Day 3 of the Camping and Coasters 2004 tour.
After a 6 (ish) hour drive, we finally arrived at Bakken. Where it rained for most of the day! First impressions were that the park looked like one of those places with hidden gems around every corner. And it was. Mainly due to the fact that its the oldest amusement park in the world. There are a lot of attractions crammed into a small area. Kind of like a mini BPB.
Rutschebanen was the first stop. This was my first experience of a Scenic Railway, and boy was it good. No, it was'nt an all out thrill machine, but that’s not the point to these sorts of coasters. It was all about the fun factor. The coaster has a beautiful layout with plenty of pleasant airtime filled dips.
Mine Train Ulven was a very fast kiddie with an insane first drop. Took all of us by surprise!
Jungle Safari was like Golden Nuggets but better.
Racing, a Zierer Flitzer was a fun coaster with an intense twisted layout. We also took a ride on the S&S Double Shot in the rain (still fun). Our wet ride on a round booster type ride wasn’t so fun though. I might as well have jumped into a bath fully clothed!
The award for best unique ride of the trip goes to a crocodile themed ride which is best described as flying scooters on water. You have to see it to believe it. Great fun. |
